Welcome to Your E-Portfolio Assignment

This assignment is a culminating project to show off your growth as a writer and a human being this semester. Most of this work, you have already done; you already have artifacts for most of these categories. Here is your chance to pull it all together, notice the work you've done, and think about your next steps.  For inspiration, here is Lauryn Hill (from many years ago) talking about the importance of always starting off at the bottom of a new hill, learning, and studying.

I. You will have a brief "about the author" statement

Tell us who you are, your struggles and memories, your values and goals, your progress towards becoming the best version of yourself. You can include pictures or videos.

II. You will have one self-reflection and at least two artifacts for each of our learning goals:

1. Develop the confidence & patience to actively read and analyze college-level texts (looking at rhetorical strategies, reliability, ideas, and evidence)

2. Find sources and meaningfully incorporate them into essays, using appropriate documentation format

3. Write essays that pursue answers to challenging and personally relevant questions and advance arguments supported by evidence (This one will have TWO polished essays, rewritten from assignments in our class)

4. Demonstrate varied and flexible strategies for generating, drafting, and revising essays

5. Develop enough confidence in your grammar skills to edit your own essays, final exam, and portfolio

6. Recognize your strengths and weaknesses as an academic writer and be able to articulate your goals for future writing assignments

III. You will have a project statement that pulls together the overall "meaning" of your portfolio, its main themes and strengths. Here, you will give your portfolio a title.

IV, You will have a reflection about the meaning of happiness in your own life

Reflect upon how your own ideas about happiness have changed over the semester and where you see them going in the future. Think about your individual happiness and also the place that happiness has in our society.
